The family of a British tourist who suffered sudden cardiac arrest while on holiday in Marmaris decided to donate his organs, contributing to the survival of 3 different patients. The kidneys, liver and cornea were all successfully transplanted.
Commenting on the case, Uz. Dr. Turgay Burucu said that even in situations where sudden cardiac death cannot be prevented, the decision to donate organs gives hope to other lives. Dr. Burucu emphasised the importance of cardiac emergency preparedness and public awareness in cities like Marmaris with a large tourist population.
